What I am grateful for

In this day and age, humility and gratitude are as important as ever! Therefore today, I am going to share a few of the many things I am grateful for.

I am grateful for my health, for my loved ones, for my four legged ones, for food on the table and a roof over my head, for the freedom to share my creativity and the opportunity to run a small business in Kansas City. For my staff that makes it all come together and the clients that keep coming back for more.

When we opened five years ago, we never imagined the kindness and support we would receive from all who enter our door.  Owning a small business isn’t always fun and easy. It can have its share of challenges too. However, in the end, it is incredibly rewarding to see customers appreciate and recognize the work put into each piece and to see them return year after year. I am so very grateful for our customer's loyalty.  

As a thank you for your kindness and support throughout the year, we are having a two-day open house event on Black Friday, November 24th and Small Business Saturday, November 25th at Jet Couture Jewels on the Country Club Plaza. We will be offering discounts on select Jet Jewelry and Scarves.  We don’t offer deals like this often so come in and say hello and enjoy the beautiful Plaza Lights.

This Holiday, make it a point to shop local! Every dollar you spend with a locally owned retailer has a significant impact on your economy and your community.

Local retailers are local citizens and families that provide jobs for residents, pay for local services & put money back into the community with sales tax to the city and the county. And they are often the most generous retailers to donate to their local philanthropic organizations.  

Local stores always have more unique, creative and unusual merchandise. They help cities to be more distinct! The world is increasingly homogenized, so support local and have a better experience. It’s nice to be greeted, remembered and graciously treated well while you shop.  Local retailers understand the importance of customer service. It’s their business, so they get it and are motivated to make and keep you and your family valued happy customers! See you for Small Business Saturday, November 25, and remember that you can make a big difference by purchasing in your community!

The 86th Annual Country Club Plaza Art Fair

The Country Club Plaza located 5 miles south of Kansas City’s downtown is the United States first suburban shopping center designed to accommodate automobiles.  

The Plaza attracts millions of shoppers each year, and it is our crown jewel in Kansas City!   From when I grew up, the Plaza has changed a lot.  Department stores and restaurants may have come and gone but one thing that has stood the test off time is the upcoming Plaza Art Fair.  The Plaza, in all its beauty, draws Kansas Citians from all areas of our city and around the U.S, to promote Art this September!  Thus the tradition of the Plaza Art Fair which began 85 years ago continues today.

This year the Plaza Art Fair will have 240 Artists!  It’s one of the Top Art Fairs in the U.S.  The Plaza itself is such a beautiful example of Colonial Spanish Architecture, the perfect setting to celebrate Art.  And it's the reason I chose to locate Jet Couture Jewels to the Plaza.  The Plaza Art Fair is one of our favorite times of the year, and we hope you have a chance to experience it for yourself.  Art is still well and alive on the Country Club Plaza and at Jet!
