A Beautiful Rare Gemstone
MB
Citrine is the name of a beautiful and rare gemstone that is yellowish-orange. The name comes from the Latin word citrina, which means "yellow" and is the origin of the word "citron”.
Alongside Topaz gemstone, Citrine is November's second birthstone, providing a ray of sunshine and positivity in sometimes gloomy Autumn.
Since ancient times, the stone has been prized for its brilliance and strength, and several ancient civilizations believed it withheld the sun's power. Soon it was recognized as the gem of positivity, growth, and success.
During the Art Deco period, citrines gemstones were set in various stunning jewelry designs made for Hollywood stars; Joan Crawford is one example. The legendary jeweler Cartier made a gorgeous citrine and diamond Art Deco tiara for King George VI's coronation in 1937. The golden jewel remains massively popular and worn by world-renowned celebrities today, including Kate Middleton, Kate Winslet, and Sheryl Crow, to name only a few.
Brazil is the largest natural producer of Citrine, followed by Spain, France, Russia, Bolivia, Madagascar, and the US.
